Rosie Ortega Ms. Lehmann English 1-3 5 December 2018 Coachella Nightmare Where everyone was screaming and having fun from day to night. There was music blasting from every direction. Lights fill the whole place and people who have their phone out recording everything. People were dressed up in many different colors of clothing with jewels and glitter to people that wore barley anything. Coachella, a place where thousands of people go have the most fun of their lives. My friend Kate and I went this year. My name is Kaylie. I am nineteen years old and I go to Juilliard. My favorite thing is to write songs and play the piano. I also love to do acting; it’s what my mom loved to do. Acting makes me feel amazing about myself. Katie goes to Juilliard with me. She is my fun amazing roommate. Katie is also into dance and singing, I write songs for her sometimes. Katie and I headed to Coachella, California. Everything looked so pretty from the airplane. We also got first class, which was so cool. After six long hours, we finally got to California. It was so hot there compared to New York City. Back home was always so cold and rainy. I was so excited to see all the celebrities that were going to be there. Ever since I was eleven years old I’ve wanted to go. R&B and Hip-Hop have always been my favorite genre in music. Once we got there we couldn’t wait for the concert to start. We got front row tickets. This was like once of a lifetime for me. Katie and I got the hotel and settled in. We had to go shopping. We needed to pick out cute clothes to wear. We went to the nearest mall and we both got skin-tight dresses. The outfits we picked were very bright in colors. Katie and I loved them! After, we went to the Coachella Festival, when we go there you could see how many people were there. There were at least about 20,000 people who went. I wanted to get some food after being there for thirty minutes of just finding our way to the front seats. Katie wanted me to get her some soda, so I went to go buy some. I had to hurry because Beyoncé was about to perform and I didn’t want to miss it. Then all of the sudden when I was walking toward the concessions, people were screaming running towards the entry gates. At first I thought it was because Beyoncé was performing but then I heard a painful scream and more people yelling and pushing their way to get out. I ran against the crowds to find Kate. There she was… on the floor lying peacefully with a gunshot wound. I could tell that she wasn’t breathing. She needed serious help. I look up at people who were running past me to safety hoping someone would help me… no one did. I tried my best to get her to breath again. Nothing was helping, I looked up and there was a guy in a hoodie standing about twenty feet away with a gun in his hand. I stood up to see if I could get a better look at whom it might be. It looked like Kate’s ex-boyfriend.
Student’s Choice Semester I Reflection Questions
List one thing you’ve learned from writing this paper that you have applied to other writing assignments. I have applied more description and give more expression in my other writings.
Identify a challenge you faced while writing this paper (this can be at any stage of the writing process) How did you overcome the challenge? What did you learn? One challenge that I had to overcome was my problem in the story. I had to hurry up and come up with a very bad situation. I learned that I needed to think about it before I write it down.
What genre does this paper fit? How do you know? Mystery because after reading my story people will want to know what will happen next.
Given more time to work on this paper, how would you improve it? I would make it about a page longer because it needs more of a background story about the characters.
Why did you choose to include this paper? What did you want me to learn about you as a writer? I thought it was one of my best stories I have ever written this year. I am very unorganized writer, I tend to skip around in my writing and it ends up not making any sense.
