Rosie Ortega Ms. Lehmann English 2-1B 9 October 2019 San Diego Trip On June 23rd, I decided to fly to San Diego, California with my Dad’s side of the family. We would leave on August 3rd. I usually don’t spend time with that part of my family, so I was kind of scared to fly with them. There were going to be a lot of us going, and that included my cousins, Audri, Alexa, Aiden, Daniela, and Ethan, and their parents. All together, there would be eleven of us. I knew that I was going to have a good time. It was late at night when I started packing my stuff, and I felt like I was never going to wake up in the morning. In my mind, I could already see what would happen; I would miss my flight and wouldn’t be able to go. My hands started moving faster and faster at the thought of that. By the time it was one o’ clock in the morning, I was finished packing. My mom walked in my room and asked, “Rosie.. are you excited?” “Kind of, but I’m really nervous.” “You’re going to be okay, and if you need anything, just call me. Also, text me everyday so I know or what you guys are doing,” she added. “I will, don’t worry,” I answered. The next morning was the day I would leave. My mom drove me to my Aunt’s house and they talked over the itinerary. After that, we drove to Salt Lake City, Utah. By the time we got on the plane, my head was throbbing and I just wanted to sleep on a nice comfy bed. Once we got there, we settled into the house and went out to eat at a fancy restaurant. The next day, we went to Tijuana, Mexico. I love Mexico; it was sunny and bright. It was very pretty. By the border, there was a shopping center which included stores like Nike, H&M, American Eagle, Hollister, Forever 21, Victoria Secret, Vans, and a lot of others. We all decided to go shopping. We stayed there for at least four hours. My feet, arms, and head were hurting, including my cousin’s. “I’m just trying to go somewhere to eat. I’m starving!” Audri exclaimed. “Yeah, me too. I’m tired of carrying these bags around.” The next day, we went to SeaWorld. We went super early in the morning. The sun wasn’t even up yet. The day was going well until my cousins and I left to go on the rides. Once we got off the rides, we went to go look for the rest of my family. No one was answering their phone. My brain was going all over the place, and my mind was blank. We started walking around the park to find them. My feet began to get sore, and I was getting tired. I was getting irritated by the fact that no one was picking up their phone. To be honest, I just really wanted to fly back home. “They’re right there!” yelled Aiden. “Oh, thank God!” “About time!” Audri exclaimed. “Let’s get back to the house,” my Aunt said. We all went back house and talked about how fun our day was. My family and I had a great time. I learned that no matter how bad a situation is, know that it will all get better. I’m glad that I agreed to take this trip, it was an amazing experience. My feelings from the beginning were completely forgotten. I was very happy in that second; it was truly an incredible feeling.
Personal Narrative Reflection 1. Explain the process you went through to write this paper. Please be specific. I had to think of a story that I have gone through personally. I made a list of stories in different moods, being happy, sad, excited, and more. I decided to go with a story where I went to California. I made key points for the story. After I did that, I had to put where we put dialogue, imagery, and show don’t tell 2. What qualifies this paper as a narrative? What are the requirements for this genre and how did you meet them? We had to put dialogue, show don’t tell, and imagery. I talked about how I got lost at SeaWorld. I included all of that in my story. I also talked about how I felt on the plane my using imagery and show don’t tell. 3. What is one part of your story that you think turned out really well? What do you like about that part? I like the part where I mentioned when we went shopping. I think I explained that part good. When we went shopping I had a good time and I had so much fun and I liked to put that in my story. I was very excited to tell about in my story.
